Tips To Choose The Right Athletic Clothing For Your Kids

Heard the phrase - dress for success?

Turns out, it is true! Even for sports and gym sessions. Although youre going to get all sweaty in the end, you cant just slip into your worn out cotton tee and sweatpants. The right sports apparel can boost your performance by allowing you just the kind of movement and comfort that is required to play a particular sport well.

Clothing has many functions. It can promote or restrict movements, absorb sweat, and do much more. This makes it essential to choose the right outfit for the activity you are performing, keeping in mind the conditions you will be performing in. Choosing the right athletic apparel for your child can significantly improve his performance at sports and also boost his self confidence.

But with so much variety of childrens clothing, shopping can be overwhelming, when it is supposed to be all fun. Here are some useful tips to help you choose the right athletic apparel for your kid:
  • Consider the fabric - Choose a breathable fabric that will allow your childs skin to breathe by drawing the sweat away from his skin. Polyester, spandex, and lycra are some good moisture management fabrics that tend to do this well. Do not pick extremely soft-to-touch fabrics (like pure cotton ones), thinking that they will be comfortable. It will tend to absorb all the sweat and wont dry quickly, which will end up making your child feel heavy and causing him chills or skin irritations.
  • Choose form-fitting clothes - Although baggy suits and loose tees might feel comfortable, but in workout and sports, they can get in the way and affect your childs movements and performance. Choose form-fitting clothes for him that must move with their body and keep them comfortable. You can go for a slightly loose fit, but make sure it doesnt drape too far off your childs body.
  • Get a few extra cotton tees for post-workout - Getting your child to wear breathable fabrics while he plays a sport will ensure to wick the moisture away from his skin unlike pure cotton which will stay wet with all the sweat. However, once he is done playing the sport, the clothes might feel a little uncomfortable against the skin. This is when he can change into a comfortable and relaxing cotton tee until he gets home. Get some funky cotton tees in beautiful colors, prints, and patterns. You could even look for cartoon and animal characters in clothing for boys. Your child will love that funky tee!
Avoid designs that can irritate the delicate skin of your child- Clothes with sparkles, embellishments, applique designs, and some other designs might irritate the skin of your child by rubbing constantly against it. Though they might look trendy, but are practically not a good option. Same goes for fringes and strings. They can cause strangulation hazards for toddlers & infants, and you definitely want your child to stay from these clothing.
